As a company focused on the power of technology we were very excited to be able to contribute to the students and faculty of Hough Elementary. In the Summer of 2008, our President Thomas Brenneke donated 16 laptops, 6 document imaging cameras and 6 LCD projectors to the school. After being exposed to the inside workings of the school system and seeing the great need that the elementary had he decided to do something about it. Originally many of the computers in the school were old and many classrooms did not even have a computer. After reflecting on the importance and impact that technology had on him growing up, he was motivated to help the children who were currently going without. 2nd grade teacher Nikki Brenneke explained their gratitude, “We really appreciate Network Redux’s donation. For a school like ours, with a large population of students who receive free and reduced lunch, we would have had to wait many years for the district to buy equipment like this. Elementary schools are at the bottom of the totem pole to receive any new technology and often get the hand me downs from middle and high schools leaving us with extremely outdated technology.”
The hope for this donation was that children would be immersed into the world of technology at a young age and that teachers would have an efficient tool to aide their process. “Having the document cameras and laptops has completely changed the way we teach. The document camera allows us to model for students in a way that we couldn’t before. We can also use it to show students examples of their peer’s work. Students are extremely engaged in teacher led internet research that the combination of the laptop and document camera allows the whole class to see,” explained Nikki Brenneke. The importance of investing in these children lives is incredibly important and by giving them tools that they can learn hands on was a significant incentive to donate to the school. “Network Redux’s donation of 16 laptop computers and several LCD projectors has helped Hough Elementary school teachers become up to date in the world of technology. It has also brought real time learning resources to each classroom. This tech donation has had a powerful impact on the learning of both staff and students!” Principal Sean McMillan
