Investing in the Future Generations

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

As a company focused on the power of technology we were very excited to be able to contribute to the students and faculty of Hough Elementary. In the Summer of 2008, our President Thomas Brenneke donated 16 laptops, 6 document imaging cameras and 6 LCD projectors to the school. After being exposed to the inside workings of the school system and seeing the great need that the elementary had he decided to do something about it. Originally many of the computers in the school were old and many classrooms did not even have a computer. After reflecting on the importance and impact that technology had on him growing up, he was motivated to help the children who were currently going without. 2nd grade teacher Nikki Brenneke explained their gratitude, “We really appreciate Network Redux’s donation. For a school like ours, with a large population of students who receive free and reduced lunch, we would have had to wait many years for the district to buy equipment like this. Elementary schools are at the bottom of the totem pole to receive any new technology and often get the hand me downs from middle and high schools leaving us with extremely outdated technology.”

The hope for this donation was that children would be immersed into the world of technology at a young age and that teachers would have an efficient tool to aide their process. “Having the document cameras and laptops has completely changed the way we teach. The document camera allows us to model for students in a way that we couldn’t before. We can also use it to show students examples of their peer’s work. Students are extremely engaged in teacher led internet research that the combination of the laptop and document camera allows the whole class to see,” explained Nikki Brenneke. The importance of investing in these children lives is incredibly important and by giving them tools that they can learn hands on was a significant incentive to donate to the school. “Network Redux’s donation of 16 laptop computers and several LCD projectors has helped Hough Elementary school teachers become up to date in the world of technology. It has also brought real time learning resources to each classroom. This tech donation has had a powerful impact on the learning of both staff and students!” Principal Sean McMillan

Network Redux Introduces Maximus and Lilly

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

We are so happy to introduce our two new Reduxians, Maximus and Lilly. Our office just wasn’t complete until the addition of these beloved animals. We began this adventure at the Oregon Humane Society, an incredible animal shelter for dogs, cats and a variety of small animals. We immediately bonded with these two and feel incredibly lucky to be able to provide them a new home. Max wasted no time exploring the space, while Lilly is more on the timid side but both are adjusting well. Both of them offer characteristics that contribute to a dynamic work space.

If you are looking for a new addition we encourage you to visit the Humane Society. We applaud them on their passion and enthusiasm for animals. Visit their website, they are constantly updating their animals, complete with personality assessments so you can find the perfect match for you. There are so many loving and wonderful animals looking for a new home and we are delighted that we could provide that for these two.

Welcome 2010!

Friday, February 5th, 2010

A belated Happy New Year to our Inside readers! Things have been busy here at Network Redux and I would like to take this opportunity to discuss the exciting changes currently taking place. My name is Natalie and I am the newest team member to join Network Redux. I am currently a senior at the University of Portland and am wrapping up my degree in organizational communications. I am thrilled for this new beginning and am looking forward to the future and the continuing growth as a Reduxian.

2010 provides us with a fresh set of services now available on our public website. Clients may immediately notice that we are no longer taking on new Shared Optimized (SO+) hosting accounts, however our current shared hosting customers will continue to receive the full levels of service and support for life.  With this removal comes a new addition… We are pleased to formally announce the unveiling of our enterprise hosting services, and we invite you to take a look:  http://www.networkredux.com/hosting/enterprise

Looking into the new year we are excited to be sponsoring and also be a part of both Ignite Portland 8 and OpenSource Bridge 2010. Ignite Portland 8 is a unique event that gathers people for the common thrill of new ideas in technology, art and other intriguing categories. We will be adding a new addition to our Super Network Redux volume and it will be making its grand debut at Ignite Portland 8. We are also looking forward to being a part of
OpenSource Bridge 2010, an inspiring new conference for open source developers. More information on these events will continue to be provided as they grow nearer.

We are looking forward to the new additions and the continuing events in the upcoming new year!
