We’re keen on supporting the open source community in a variety of capacities and one way we’ve elected to extend support is by sponsoring web hosting services for those who develop open source applications; after all, we utilize open source technology on a daily basis. To site a specific example: we were recently introduced to a company called Kontrollsoft that specializes in relational database software. For them, after assessing their needs, we created a production environment, and also an environment for their application development on (2) managed dedicated servers. The particular application we are hosting for them is called Kontrollbase which is summarized below:
“Kontrollbase is a monitoring, analytics, reporting, and historical analysis webapp for MySQL database servers. It is an enterprise grade application that is built on the open-source software model. It provides you with tools and tuning recommendations to automate the administration of hundreds and even thousands of database servers. It offers the same, and in many cases, more features than competing commercial software offerings but without the hefty price tag for support or licensing. MySQL has always been a free relational database — shouldn’t the monitoring software be free too? Try Kontrollbase and see why enterprises all over the world are praising this open-source application.”
